The University of Sarajevo (UNSA) is the oldest and largest higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a public university with around 40.000 students, covering almost all fields through over 100 study programmes and over 200 departments. UNSA has extensive experience in projects dealing, among other things, with areas such as governance reform, quality assurance, curriculum development, IT, e-infrastructure and distance learning.

The Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo is a unit of the University of Sarajevo. Established in 1961, the faculty houses the departments of political science, sociology, media studies, social work, and security and peace studies, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs in related fields. The Institute for Social Research, a unit within the Faculty of Political Sciences, has a long tradition in research activities.

UNSA will lead the field work in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will supervise fieldwork in Serbia, along with TCD. Building on its outstanding research expertise in the field, and especially on violent extremism, UNSA will concentrate its fieldwork on cumulative extremisms (WP3) and on interactions between states and religious institutions (WP4). UNSA will also support the development of baseline studies and contribute to the project methodology, and engage in stakeholder activities and policy roundtables.
